Hi! My name is Mark Guinn.
I’m a husband, dad, small business lover, wannabe outdoorsman, photography enthusiast, tech geek and all around nice guy that always has a good story to tell. Want proof? Well, I once worked for peanuts…literally.
Yeah, that’s me in the picture with my daughter/co-adventurer, Mackenzie, being photobombed by a bear in Maggie Valley, NC.
Why am I here?
That seems to be the $15 million existential question… Why are any of us of here? And are we actually “here?” OK, enough of that. It makes my head hurt.
It seems that exploring is in my blood. Even when I was a little kid, I’d spend the day purposely lost in the woods exploring abandoned farmhouses, long forgotten family cemeteries, and old barns that looked like they were more termite than wood. As I’ve gotten older I’ve had the privilege to travel across the country and into other countries, see some amazing things, and meet some unforgettable people. One of these people, a tattoo covered psychic with purple hair, gave me what has been some of the best advice of my life: Follow your bliss.
I love road trips. Seriously. I used to drive from Greenville, SC, to Phoenix, AZ (2,032 miles to be exact) in 2 days just for fun. I also love studying history, and visiting everything from historical landmarks to plantations to cave drawings to… Well, you get the idea. If it happened a long time ago, I wanna see it. Above all, though, I LOVE being outdoors! There’s a certain connection, a deep peace, that one can only find wandering in the woods, and there’s a definite adrenaline rush to finding evidence of our ancestors. Combine these passions, throw in a camera for fun, and I’m pretty sure I’m following that bliss the psychic told me about.
